Headwaters Collective
(we made FLOCK magazine. Cool!)

The Headwaters Collective is a youth program that finds fun and creative ways of engaging in social change.

Our consultation with young people ages 14 - 19 have showed that they want more time and space in their lives for
1) Job opportunities,
2) Feminism,
3) Social and environmental justice,
4) Life skills and self care, and,
5) Creative self expression.

So... we made this FLOCK magazine! We do other sweet stuff too, like workshops and hangouts, plus community fairs.

VITA
Hey there, my name is Vita and I'm in grade 12 at VicHigh. I have European ancestry from Germany, Switzerland, and the UK. Victoria has been my home for about 4 years since moving from Ottawa. I love spending my time making creations out of fabric, paper, metal, beads, cake, and so on depending on where inspiration and opportunity presents itself. I also like to spend my free time (although limited) strumming my ukulele and humming along. Community involvement is also a big part of my life. This passion, along with my love for creative expression has made this magazine project so exciting to me.

PAUL

My name is Paul, I look like a lion. I was born into a loving family with British and German background. A lot of my life happened on the traditional territory of the Indigenous New Credit First Nations territory in Mississauga, ON. I'm a brother, a son, a friend, and a husband. In my community I enjoy gardening and making warm meals with my friends and family. For work I facilitate youth programs and hopefully will be farming soon! Sometimes I get super nervous and I am really grateful to have community to help me get through. Lots of love to the women and trans peeps in my life who I learn SOOOO much from <3
